Fears and phobias can successfully be overcome by hypnotherapy. Fear is a natural response sparked by coming face-to-face with real danger. For example, we are all scared of coming across a lion and our fear is caused by our most basic survival instincts. In contrast to this, a phobia is an irrational fear of an object or situation that causes little or no danger. For example, hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia (a fear of long words) may cause some people to experience anxiety, but the fear isn’t caused by real or present danger. Our subconscious brain is where phobias are created and, because they are irrational, they can often be dealt with effectively by way of hypnotherapy.
