There are many tools you can use to reduce anxiety and feel better. One of those tools is journaling. While it is an easy thing to do, the benefits you can get may really surprise you.
All you need is a pen and a notebook. The journal doesn’t have to cost a fortune or be anything fancy. It is simply to be used a log to get your thoughts down on paper and learn some amazing things about yourself in the process. It’s never too late to get started.

A New Beginning
If you are going through a time in your life when things are changing or you want to make changes, there’s no better time to start journaling. With fresh blank pages ahead of you, it’s an exciting time to write down your daily progress as to how your life is unfolding.
It helps keep you focused and mindful about what’s going on inside your head.
Why do you want change in your life? How do you picture your life a few months from now? Write it all down.
Because this is your personal journal, you can be free to write down your honest feelings about anything. It gives you the opportunity to dig down deep into your mind and put your feelings into words.
It helps get things off your chest and mind. Doesn’t it always feel good to vent? No one will judge or criticise you because the pages of this journal are for your eyes only. There’s nothing you will feel guilt or regret about, because it’s done privately.
By writing down your fears, problems or struggles, you may be able to find solutions you haven’t thought of before. It’s an extremely effective and healthy way of working through things you struggle with.
Learn More about Yourself
As you write down your innermost thoughts and feelings about anything and everything, you may really learn a lot more about yourself. You will be able to identify what motivates you and resolve issues more easily.
It helps you to focus on the positives in your life that you may have forgotten. It may trigger past memories and experiences that can be helpful with a current situation. You can look at yourself from a different angle and discover things about yourself you never even realised before.
A Break from Current Circumstances
While journaling helps capture thoughts and feelings about current events in your life, it also provides an easy way to escape from problems and stress.
The pages of your journal are a blank slate or canvas for you to take anywhere you want it go.
If it makes you feel good to focus on the vacation you dream of taking, write all the details down. Let yourself go there on paper for even just a few minutes.

Anything that helps release stress and negative emotions is very beneficial to your health. Everything from lowering your blood pressure to fighting off depression can be gained by simply writing down your thoughts.
As you write things down, you don’t have to worry about trying to remember each of every detail for every event. By getting thoughts and details down on paper, you’re releasing them from your mind. This allows you to concentrate more easily and lose the feeling of being overwhelmed.
Once you clear your mind, you can deal with things as they are in the present moment and find it easier to relax.
