It’s Easy to Quit Smoking
If you’re a smoker, you’ve probably tried more than once to quit. Why is it so hard to quit smoking? According to Allan Carr, author of “The Easy Way to Quit Smoking,” it doesn’t have to be hard at all. Here are some tips and insights that have worked for him and thousands of people he’s helped to snuff out those cigarettes once and for all.
According to allencarr.com, the biggest thing standing in the way of quitting is fear. The fear comes from many different directions and myths we hold in our minds. How do I live without smoking? How can I relax without a cigarette? How do I function without a nicotine fix?
The truth is, once the nicotine leaves the body within a couple of weeks, the physical addiction is almost completely gone. The problem is the emotional addiction that hangs around much longer. This is what keeps smokers hooked.
Here are some of Mr. Carr’s tips for quitting smoking the easy way:
Set a date and time to quit
Mark your quit date – in bold marker – on the calendar. Keep smoking as you normally do right up until the day and time you plan to quit.
Keeping in mind that smoking is a crutch and does absolutely nothing for you at all, go into the quit day with a happy and positive attitude. Remember that this experience is going to be positive and exciting. You are going to be gaining your freedom, self-confidence, health and have some extra money in your pocket.
As you smoke your last cigarette, remember that under no circumstances will you ever need another cigarette or any other form of nicotine ever again. You know it’s time and that you’re life depends on this moment.
Withdrawal is good
When the physical withdrawal symptoms kick in, remember that this is a good thing. Your body is becoming healthier with each passing hour. Your body knows what to do to get rid of the nicotine and it’s doing the job. Every time you have a withdrawal pang, realize what it is. It’s your body getting rid of the poison and toxins, and it will pass after a few days.
If the feelings of anxiety or restlessness come along after a meal or with a cup of coffee, remind yourself how wonderful it is to enjoy a meal or coffee without choking yourself with a cigarette. Breathe deeply and congratulate yourself on decision.
Don’t avoid situations that you normally associate with smoking. Go out to these social situations and tackle them head on. Look around at the other smokers and feel good about the fact that you’re no longer one of them.
You will think about smoking all the time so don’t avoid it. Simply change the conversation in your mind from feeling sorry for yourself that you can’t smoke to feeling incredibly happy and powerful that you have conquered the beast.
One cigarette can’t hurt, right?
Wrong. There’s no such thing as just one cigarette. If you give in to the cravings, you’ll be right back into smoking again. No matter what is going on in your life, it would be happening whether or not you smoke. Don’t be fooled into thinking that one cigarette won’t hurt. One cigarette will pull you right back into the deadly smoking cycle.
It’s important that the nicotine completely leaves your body, so don’t use patches, gum or other substitutes. This will only keep the nicotine in your system longer than it needs to be. A complete, clean break is all you need.
Also, don’t keep cigarettes on hand “just in case.” Throw all smoking items in the garbage include ashtrays, lighters and of course, cigarettes.
You can do this!
If you make up your mind that you are going to do this, go into it with a positive mindset and hang in there, your life as a non-smoker will become a reality. You will feel normal again, and better than ever. The constant thoughts of smoking and having just one cigarette will fade away in time. With each passing day, it will just get easier for you to lead a healthy, smoke-free life.
You don’t have to wait until January 1st or your birthday to quit smoking. By realising how much smoking takes away from your life and that it does absolutely nothing for you, you can choose to start living your new smoke-free lifestyle immediately. It is really that easy to quit. Check out my Stop Smoking Hypnosis Download.
